A prominent speaker visited the Digital Bauhaus Summit on the second day in the National Theatre in Weimar: Wolfgang Tiefensee, the Thuringian Minister of Economy, Science and the Digital Society. In his short speech, he addressed some words about important of this event and what role the politics have to play within the digitalization to the participants. The minister wants to create a utopia for Thuringian and start a social discourse about digitalization.
Thuringian has a lot of SME-enterprises that have to develop more interest in digitalisation to be competitive for the future and in a globalised world. Wolfgang Tiefensee is also minister for Digital Society in Thuringian and is trying to bring this discussion into his work. „Let us dream about luxury communism in Thuringian“, Tiefensee said in his speech. But he also reminded the audience, that we have to use technology in a responsible way. „The digitalisation have to be built in a humanistic way.“ Technologies are brilliant, but we should not be dominated by the spiral of data, he reminded the audience.
Wolfgang Tiefensee also talked about his utopia: „Technology can help us but they should not rule us.“ We should not forget the real life beside the machines and data. „I don´t want to step back, but we have to lead the discussion in the sense of luxury communism“, he said. Tiefensee addresses his delight that the Digital Bauhaus Summit is taking place the third time in Weimar. „I´m happy we have all this wonderful speaker here together in Weimar, in Thuringia!“, he mentioned. The speech of Wolfgang Tiefensee as a representant of the state of Thuringia how is supporting the DBS 2016 is also important because it can build a bridge between new ideas and concepts around luxury communism and politics.
